Salt Deformation and Salt Cavern Analysis
Technology Summary
As oil and gas exploration wells drill deeper around the world, and with improvements in seismic imaging, drilling through salt and subsalt is increasing. Drilling through salt alters the stresses in the near well region and induces creep and borehole collapse. Producing from formations adjacent or beneath salt can alter stresses over a larger area and can induce salt formation deformations. Terralog Technologies has extensive experience analyzing salt behavior, developing improved salt deformation models, assessing the impact of salt deformation on wells, and evaluating cavern deformations in both domal and bedded salt formations.
